Another year has gone by that I didn’t make it to E3. It seems as if there’s always something holding me back. This year was a tree. Yes, a tree. A freaking tree, burning inside all night long, decided to allow a little gust of wind to push it over at the exact moment I was driving by. Needless to say, my hands are still not 100%, I can’t game or type as much as I would like to, and I missed another chance at experiencing E3. Damn you Richard!
I wear many hats as managing general partner of The Revenge Gamers, and not just my Boba Fett helmet. Besides taking care of this site, I’m also in charge of GamersRevenge.com. I also keep track of our social media sites and correspondence with developers and publishers. I’m not bragging or bitching, just lamenting that keeping up with every single game image and video isn’t easy, so it usually takes me a bit longer than most people.
Today was no exception. Sitting here working, I was startled from my concentration by Richard’s shout “Holy Shit! Check this video!” Instantly Skype dings with a YouTube link and I set my eyes on a trailer for Tom Clancy’s The Division.
I am immediately intrigued. This game, now this looks fun. No, not just fun, The Division has now jumped to the top of my most anticipated games list. Watch_Dogs is now a close second. As I watch the video, I am soon drooling at the prospect of playing The Division when it is released next year. Wait, what? An MMO that’s only on Xbox One and PlayStation 4? What about us PC gamers?
Things I have wished for in gaming seem to be readily available in The Division. Graphics are breathtaking. Battlefield 3 has nothing on The Division when it comes to physical destruction. Chunks of concrete fly off obstacles after every bullet. Each shot into car windows punctures independently of each other before the glass eventually crumbles into a heap.
I’ve been wanting a tablet for a while and seeing The Division will also include a companion app for smartphones and tablets, allowing me to command a drone to help while Richard, on his PlayStation 4 (I have no doubt he’ll be getting it before the Xbox One), completes his mission was just icing on the cake.
Between the gorgeous graphics and the mobile accessibility, The Division looks to be a instant hit MMORPG. Will it be the next big MMO? Is this the long rumored World of Warcraft killer? We’ll see in 2014 when The Division launches on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. And, if you’re a PC gamer like me, be sure to show Ubisoft you want The Division by signing their online petition.
