I know I am getting old. Every day that passes is another reminder of how old I am. When a celebrity I grew up following — actor, actress, author — passes away, their death is another not-so-subtle reminder of my mortality.
I woke up this morning to find out Robert Loggia, one of my favorite actors has passed away. Known for playing gravelly-voiced mobsters in Scarface and The Sopranos to comedic roles in Big and three Pink Panther films, Mr. loggia passed away December 4. He was 85-years-old.
My favorite roles, and the ones that made him become one of my favorite actors included Independence Day, Big, and believe it or not, his Minute Maid commercials.
Salvatore Loggia was born Jan. 3, 1930, on Staten Island. The son of Sicilian immigrants, he grew up in Manhattan’s Little Italy section. He is survived by his wife, Audrey O’Brian, and three children from his first marriage (Marjorie Sloane).
