Reboots. With very few exceptions (Hawaii Five-0), I hate them. Hollywood manages to take something from my childhood and ruin it with a remake that doesn’t even come close to the perfection of the original cough Wonder Woman, Knight Rider, and Bionic Woman cough.
And it looks like Hollywood is going to do it again, this time with one of my all-time favorites, MacGyver.
This reboot is technically a prequel as it focuses on “MacGyver: The Early Years,” a 20-something MacGyver getting recruited into a clandestine organization using his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters from happening.
I’m not sure how I feel about this one. On the one hand, it’s a reboot. On the other hand, the script is being written by R. Scott Gemmill (NCIS: Los Angeles). Seeing as how NCIS: Los Angeles is one of my favorite shows (and one of the few I actually put my laptop away to watch), I plan to give this reboot a fair shot. In fact, I have more faith in this than the planned A-Team and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboots.
I’m curious if “the mullet” will be seen as well.
